Car shipping FAQ

How much does it cost to ship a car?

Most moves fall between about $300 for short local trips and $2,100 for coast-to-coast open transport. Distance, vehicle size, open vs. enclosed, and whether the car runs are the biggest factors. Our quote form shows an estimate for your exact route in seconds.

How long does car shipping take?

Carriers cover roughly 400–500 miles a day. Coast-to-coast usually takes 7–10 days on the truck, plus a pickup window of 1–5 days after you book.

Do I pay anything to get a quote?

No. Quotes are free and there's no payment to get one. A shipping advisor confirms your final rate before anything is booked.

Is my car insured during transport?

Carriers are required to carry cargo insurance. Ask for the carrier's certificate of insurance before pickup and check the coverage limit fits your vehicle.

Can you ship a car that doesn't run?

Yes. Select 'No' for 'Is the vehicle operable?' in the quote and we'll match you with a carrier that has a winch. Non-running vehicles cost a bit more.

Are you a carrier or a broker?

We're a car shipping company that works as a transport broker: we quote your move, then book it with an independent, FMCSA-registered carrier from our vetted network that's already running your route. You deal with us from quote to delivery.

What's the difference between open and enclosed transport?

Open carriers are the standard, lower-cost option. Enclosed trailers protect the car from weather and debris and cost roughly 40–60% more; they're best for classic, exotic and high-value cars.

Can I put personal items in the car?

Carriers generally don't allow household goods in shipped vehicles and their insurance doesn't cover them. Remove valuables and loose items before pickup.
